Canada Welcomes 257,515 Permanent Residents in 2012!
For 7 straight years, Canada has continued to welcome an influx of immigrants, reaching a quarter of a million immigrants since 2006. Canada saw 257,515 permanent residents arrive, anticipating the expected range of permanent residence for the year.
Minister Jason Kenney addressed the data released by Citizenship and Immigration Canada with a positive outlook of the effect of high immigration numbers. “Immigration is a key part of the government’s plan to grow our economy, spur job creation, and ensure long-term prosperity for all Canadians.
”
Canada is seeing a higher level of admissions from previous decades, as it is a reflection of Canada’s effective immigration system that attracts several individuals meeting Canada’s labour market needs, wanting to reunite with family members, and those that are seeking genuine refugee protection.
