CIC Announces New Federal Skilled Worker Program
A new selection system will take effect on May 4, 2013 for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), CIC has announced. The new system will assist both employers and Permanent Residence applicants that will be connected to a job portal under an ‘expression of interest’ format, which will have readily available jobs within Canada. The selection system measures candidates based on points awarded for language, age, adaptability, education, work experience, and their pre arranged employment within Canada. This award system will allow candidates to be selected based on how they are able to blend and succeed within the Canadian economy.
All these changes are in tune with the changes to Canada’s immigration system to help ensure it’s efficiency and flexibility. Minister Jason Kenney instills that the government’s main priorities lie within making jobs and continuing to grow the economy. The current system is similar to Australia and New Zealand in ensuring that new migrants will have employment as they come to Canada, rather than face labor shortages.
