New Citizenship Processing Fee
Along with the New Year come changes. One important change to be aware of is the price increase for processing citizenship applications. The new processing fee effective January 1st is $530, which is an increase from the former fee of $300 implemented in February of 2014. The reason being for this price increase, according to officials, is due to the fact that the government has introduced a more rigorous citizenship process in an attempt to eliminate backlog. Candidates with a successful citizenship application will also be required to pay an additional $100 for the right of citizenship fee in order to become Canadian citizens.
