The Honourable Glennys L. McVeigh has been appointed judge of the Federal Court

The Honourable Glennys L. McVeigh, a senior counsel with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada in Saskatoon, has been appointed judge of the Federal Court to fill a new position according to s.95 of Bill C-36.
Madam Justice McVeigh attended the University of Saskatchewan, College of Arts, and completed a bachelor of laws in 1992. She was admitted to the Bar of Saskatchewan in 1993 and is a past member of the Bar of Nunavut. Since 2009, Madam Justice McVeigh has been a senior counsel at the Public Prosecution Service in Canada and prior to that was counsel with the Department of Justice Canada.
Her main practice areas were criminal prosecutions, civil litigation, administrative and immigration law. From 1992 to 1998, she was an associate with Jamieson Bains in Saskatoon, where she practised in civil and criminal litigation.
Madam Justice McVeigh was a member of the Saskatoon Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. She was a part-time lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan Law School from 2009 to 2010. She also volunteers with numerous community and civic organizations.
This appointment is effective immediately.
