The Alberta Work Experience Category
With an increasing economy and the highest population among the prairies, Alberta is in need of people to work and live there long-term to address the labour shortage. As of 20 June 2013, the Alberta Work Experience Category will allow temporary foreign workers to apply for permanent residency.
Eligible candidates are those skilled workers who have been working in Alberta for at least two of the past three years, or semi-skilled workers who have been working there for three of the past four years. To apply, candidates must first successfully obtain for a Provincial Nominee Program Certificate with Alberta, and then apply under the new program for permanent resident status.
The program is set to run until 28 November 2013 and will cap at 5,500 applicants.
