New Citizenship Judge Announced
Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander has announced the appointment of Canada’s newest Citizenship Judge, Trang Angie Nguyen.
Nguyen is a Vancouver-based court reporter for the British Columbia Attorney General. She studied criminology at Simon Fraser University, and received a 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her active role in the Vietnamese Canadian Community. She has volunteered extensively with the Vietnamese Women’s Society to promote scholarships for Vietnamese-Canadian students, and she is involved in the organizing of Vietnam Heritage Day in Canada.
Nguyen was appointed on Minister Chris Alexander’s recommendation. She was selected from a list of qualified candidates and has proven abilities for critical judgement and decision making, verbal and written communication, as well as an aptitude for leadership and cross cultural sensitivity.
As a Citizenship Judge Nguyen will rule on citizenship applications and administer the oath of citizenship to new Canadians at citizenship ceremonies.
Our sincerest congratulations go out to Trang Angie Nguyen on her appointment.
