Mario D. Bellissimo interviewed in The Lawyers Weekly regarding Immigration Backlogs
Mario D. Bellissimo Chair of the National Immigration Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association was featured in the March 2014 issue of Lawyers Weekly. The article focuses on a pilot project, proposed by the Federal Court to reduce the backlog of hearings for permanent and temporary residence, work and student permits. Currently in Toronto there are 511 immigration cases awaiting a hearing. Mario Bellissimo was quoted as saying “The program, in my opinion, hasn’t had a fair shake yet. I think it can [meet some litigants’ needs]…It’s relatively new. People are still learning about it. People are still trying to understand it…”
