Up to Speed: The Best Outdoor Skating Rinks Around the Country!
Winter –we’re in the thick of it! What does that mean? Well, with all the snow, lower temperatures and sometimes sunny skies, conditions are perfect for lacing-up and heading out for a skate.
Canada is lucky enough to not only have plenty of outdoor rinks to choose from, but also the scenery to make it a memorable experience. To help you in your search for the perfect space, here are some of the most outstanding spots from coast to coast:
Newfoundland and Labrador: If you find yourself out East and with a sharp pair of skates in tow, then slide right over to The Loop. Located in St.John’s within Bannerman Park, this trail is perfect for all!
Quebec: Get away from the buzz of Montreal’s downtown core and make your way to the Beaver Lake rink. It’s located right on top of Mount Royal, so we bet the views are hard to beat! Get more details here.
Ontario: Of course, the Rideau Canal is one of the more popular locations in this province, if not in the whole country. If you’re looking for something similar but in a more serene setting, try out the Colonel Sam Smith Skating Trail in Toronto. The best part? Admission is free! Click here for details.
Alberta: We all know that Lake Louise is stunning in the warmer seasons, like summer! Winter however, can be just as great, especially since you can skate among the mountains. For full details, please click here.
British Columbia: Immerse yourself in a winter wonderland as you skate atop Grouse Mountain, near Vancouver. Snow covered trees surround the rink, and you can even rent it out for a round of shinny with your friends! For more details and fees, click here.
There you have it! With these suggestions in mind, you’re set to pack up those skates and hit the ice.
