MP Ahmed Hussen Becomes Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship in Reshuffle by PM Justin Trudeau
Following today`s cabinet reshuffle, the Honourable Justin Trudeau has appointed Ahmed Hussen as Canada`s new Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship. Ahmed Hussen, the Liberal MP for the Toronto-Area riding of York South-Weston, is a lawyer and community activist who was born and raised in Somalia. He immigrated to Canada in 1993 and settled in Toronto. Mr. Ahmed Hussen has become the first Somali-Canadian MP.
Thank you to Minister John McCallum for his leadership in the Department of Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship. John McCallum is leaving cabinet and will be appointed Canada’s Ambassador to China.
