Press Conference Interesting . . . Off to Vancouver!
I participated in a press conference this week with NDP Immigration Critic Olivia Chow. At issue, was the deportation of a man, my client, who had been sponsored by his Canadian wife eight months ago. He is a loving husband, a father to his 11-year old step son and part owner of a multi-million dollar company. He is well established and has been a strong member of our community since 1997.
The NDP is proposing new legislation to stop the needless deportation of persons such as my client. The press conference was well attended and received good coverage. The hope is that this attention helps not only my client but the thousands of people across Canada in the same situation.
Well, now it is off to Vancouver to deal with a few matters including a speaking engagement for the British Columbia Bar Association. I always enjoy being exposed to immigration issues on a national level and look forward to my time there.
