Our Recent Immigration Success Stories

At Bellissimo Immigration Law Group PC, we are privileged to work on behalf of many wonderful people, companies and associations. We represent immigration applicants from far outside Canada, from the time they step foot into the country’s airport waiting rooms all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Our immigration clients often tell us after their case is concluded that it would have helped to know of similar stories that are real and not just what you hear on the street. So every month, we post a few stories to celebrate our immigration success stories and offer some comfort to those who will soon embark on a similar journey…

This Week’s Success Story: HIV Positive Client Granted Permanent Residence

We are pleased to inform that we were successful on a permanent residence application that had been under examination for some time – 8 years. The application had been delayed because a dependent was determined to likely be medical inadmissible, and was HIV positive. Following extensive arguments, beginning three years ago, and advocating on behalf of the applicant family, we are pleased to report that they were granted permanent residence recently.

Two Year Battle with IAD; Spousal Sponsorship Appeal Success

Our client retained our services after his application to sponsor his wife had been refused by an overseas visa office. Our office appealed this decision to the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD), and began to prepare him for his hearing. This was a complex appeal, involving past criminal charges, a refugee claim, a proxy marriage, and a couple who had never met in person. Both the genuineness of their relationship and the legality of their marriage were in dispute before the IAD.

After five volumes of disclosure, four hearing dates, hours of testimony, and both oral and written argument, our client has succeeded in his appeal. His wife’s application for permanent residence will now be processed and she should be joining him in Canada soon.

This Week’s Success Story: Work Permit – Significant Benefit – Intra-Company Transfer

We have been hired by a corporation in the UK, with subsidiaries in a few countries, including California, USA, to help them with the transfer of a regional manager to Toronto, Ontario.

They have registered a subsidiary of the USA company in Toronto, but did not have yet any employees. The newly appointed regional manager wanted to start his work of establishing and building the company in Toronto as soon as possible. After doing some research on the case and getting to know more about the scope of the business, we decided that the best way to proceed was with a work permit application under the “significant benefit” for Canadian economy and an intra-company transfer of the manager. We asked for a detailed business plan, to support the application, with emphasis on the benefits the Canadian economy would have by developing the business as planned. It showed that the company will be able to create a few jobs for Canadians and/or permanent residents, which is significant for the economy.

We also asked for expedited processing of the application and we are very happy to say that the application for the work permit was approved in record time and the foreign worker is already in Canada, starting to work on the new position.
