Keep Copies!!

I just received a decision on a very complicated case where my client was refused an extension of her immigration status in Canada. She appealed. We won. About one week after winning the case she received a new extension. What was the key to the win? She kept a copy of her application that she filed with Immigration Canada. Immigration Canada lost her file. The Federal Court Judge felt it unfair for the decision to refuse to stand in light of the lost file. The lesson – keep copies of your file it could change your life – or at least your immigration status!
