Mario Bellissimo Weighs In on Passport Delays Facing Wasaga Beach Family’s Vacation Plans

A Wasaga Beach family’s dream vacation nearly fell apart due to passport delays, with a 12-year-old’s passport application caught in a complex process. Despite providing court-approved documentation showing sole custody, Nikki Jackson was asked for additional paperwork by Passport Canada.

Mario Bellissimo explains that it’s not uncommon for Passport Canada to request extra documentation in these cases, as they aim to prevent parental abductions and unauthorized travel. He clarified that when one parent applies for a child’s passport, they must provide proof of sole custody if they are not married or both parents aren’t involved in the application process.
