Minister Kenney Announces Citizenship Judge Reappointment
Robert Watt has been reappointed as Citizenship Judge in Vancouver for a three-year term on a part-time basis. The appointment will be effective on September 14, 2012, consecutive to Judge Watt’s current term.
Judge Watt is a Canadian social historian who served as the first Chief Herald of Canada from 1988-2007 in the Office of the Governor General and now holds the title of Rideau Herald Emeritus. He was previously Director of the Vancouver Museum, and the City of Vancouver Archivist.
Appointed Lieutenant of the Royal Victoria Order (LVO) in 2008, he is also an Officer of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John and received the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal. He took part in the recent Diamond Jubilee celebration in London, sailing with other heralds from across the Commonwealth in the Diamond Jubilee Regatta.
Judge Watt holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Carleton University.
