Pancake Tuesday: Paving the Way to Lent!
Pancake (or Shrove) Tuesday is celebrated by Christians in Canada and around the world as a last opportunity to feast before entering the period of lent leading up to Easter. In the United States for instance, this is also when the well-known Mardi Gras festival takes place, with music, colourful costumes, and good cheer.
If you do not have the time to make it down South however, there are plenty of other ways to celebrate. How? By enjoying a serving of sugary pancakes. Here are some of the top spots where you can order some in Toronto:
School Bakery and Cafe: located in Liberty Village, this place is sure to be satisfying. After all, their stacked blueberry pancakes topped with whipped cream sound great!
Insomnia: close to the University of Toronto in the city’s core and popular with students as well as regular folks alike, Insomnia offers oven-baked pancakes (yum!) on weekends and holiday brunches.
Mildred’s Temple Kitchen: Buttermilk blueberry pancakes are on the menu here, so head down and try them out!
Emma’s Country Kitchen: They’re serving up pancakes all day, and bringing back some fan favourites –such as the ones with a special cinnamon swirl!
Give at least one (or all) of these a try –and no, we will not judge if it’s for dinner! Happy Pancake Tuesday!
