  • On April 30, a one year pilot was implemented to mail PR card renewals and replacement cards.
  • It is expected that this will decrease the processing time by 4-6 weeks.
  • CIC issues approximately 150,000 renewals and replacements each year and it is expected with the pilot that the majority of applicants will no longer have to pick up their card at a CIC office.
  • Urgent requests will continue to be rigorously processed on a priority basis.
  • Cards will be randomly selected to be picked up at a CIC office to assess compliance and Quality Assurance.
  • The pilot will be evaluated after one year.
