Canada is strongly committed to helping refugees, and has one of the largest refugee resettlement programs in the world. In recent years, Canada has welcomed over 40,000 Syrian refugees who have made significant contributions to our communities and have helped define us as a nation.
On this day, let us commemorate the strength, and perseverance of the millions of refugees fleeing violence, hardships, and persecution. You are welcome here in Canada now and always.
